It’s almost time!

It’s almost time for the 26th annual Arizona Matsuri, Feb. 27-28 from10:30-5:00 both days. Here are some new things to look forward to this coming weekend:

Top 10- What’s New for 2010 Arizona Matsuri:

10. New Food Vendor (Taiko Japanese Restaurant in Chandler)
9. New Vendors (Asian Persuasion, Spicy Brown, Circle of Fire, Moment Captured, Hana Yori Dango)
8. Tokyo Girls (modern, hip, young Japanese fashion show on Plaza Stage)
7. ASU Stage- check out the new bleachers for the outstanding taiko performances
6. Children’s Activities- new, fun activities for the kids-sponsored this year by CGP Japan Foundation
5. Naginata- check out this exciting martial art on the Monroe Street Stage (Nakano sensei from So. Cal.)
4. Zarco- talented Japanese mask creator will participate in several ways this year
3. Sunny Seki- author of “Lucky Cat” will perform and share insights on our festival theme, Maneki Neko
2. Matsuri Parade- usually held on anniversary years only (e.g. 20th and 25th), the parade assembly area will be east of the Plaza Stage beginning at 10:00 am on Saturday, Feb. 27, parade starts promptly at 10:30 am, anyone dressed in a hapi coat, kimono, cosplay, etc is welcome to join in on the parade!
1. LOTS of other FUN performers, exhibitors, vendors…e.g.James Beard Award winning Chef Nobuo will be selling beer at a beer garden in front of his soon to open new restaurant, Nobuo at Teeter House at Heritage & Science Park; Shan Ichiyanagi, aka “The Candyman,” experience an authentic tea ceremony, Cosplay, etc.; note the fresh,new layout of this year’s festival!
